Jessica Rae Thomson is a multidisciplinary artist based in Philadelphia. Through her photographs, she seeks to document the moments she experiences or witnesses in others, often exploring themes of family, youth, aging, and the complexities of home. For her, photography is not only an act of observation but also a means of preservation, a way to cherish fleeting moments and create an intimate connection to the past.
In addition to photography, Jessica nurtures a ceramics practice, which began in 2022, under the name Sea Ceramics. The name reflects both her deep sense of peace by the sea and the meditative process of working with clay. Like her photography, ceramics are rooted in her draw to longevity; each pot she creates is an object meant to endure, passing through the hands of one or many over the course of its life.
